Built to last
OmniGrip CST not only outperforms paint-based surfaces in safety – it also delivers long-term savings.
With fewer reworks, longer lifespan, and proven crash reduction, it offers lower lifecycle costs and better asset performance over time.
Unlike paint or thermoplastics – which are not approved as CST in VIC, NSW, or QLD – OmniGrip CST is a certified, engineered solution. It must be specified and installed by qualified specialists like OmniGrip Direct, not general line-marking contractors.

Frequently
Asked Questions
I have questions about…
Is OmniGrip CST certified for use in my state?
Yes. OmniGrip CST meets and exceeds road safety specifications across all Australian states and territories.
- In Queensland, it complies with MRTS111 and is certified at TIPES Level 3 – the highest level, confirming long-term on-road performance.
- In Victoria, it meets Standard Section 430, and TIPES certification provides added assurance.
- In other states (e.g. Tasmania, NSW), TIPES certification ensures the product has been independently assessed and approved
Can OmniGrip CST be specified in tenders or commercial projects?
Absolutely. It meets Australian Standards and TIPES Level 3 certification, making it easy to include in government and commercial tender documentation.
How is OmniGrip CST scoped for my site?
Every project is different – surface type, road layout, installation method, and traffic requirements all influence what’s needed. Our team can provide a tailored recommendation based on your location and road conditions.
What colours are available
OmniGrip CST is available in three State & Austroads specialist traffic colours: red, yellow and green
Is it safe to use recycled glass – won’t it be sharp?
Yes, the recycled glass used in OmniGrip CST is processed to specific sizes (typically 1–3 mm or 3–5 mm) and is carefully processed into smooth, graded particles and then encapsulated in a high-performance resin binder. Unlike smooth paint, this surface is engineered for grip it’s specifically designed to prevent slipping, even in wet conditions.
Can OmniGrip CST be applied without removing the existing surface?
Yes. OmniGrip CST is designed to bond directly to concrete, asphalt, timber or steel, removing the need for demolition in most cases.
How long does installation take?
Most projects can be installed and reopened to traffic within the same day, depending on surface conditions, curing time, and traffic management needs.
How is OmniGrip CST installed, and what’s involved in the process?
OmniGrip CST is applied as a resin-bound coloured surface treatment using either post-consumer recycled glass or natural aggregates.
The installation involves:
- Surface preparation – The existing surface (asphalt, concrete, steel, or timber) is cleaned, dried, and prepared. Profiling may be required for concrete
- Primer application – A primer is applied to improve adhesion between the surface and the resin binder
- Resin application – A thermosetting, solvent-free resin is evenly applied to the surface
- Aggregate placement – Coloured recycled glass or natural aggregate is broadcast onto the resin to create a high-friction, textured layer
- Curing and sweeping – Once the resin cures (typically within hours), excess aggregate is swept off and the surface is ready for traffic
Can OmniGrip CST be applied in wet or cold weather?
Installation must take place in dry weather and above the minimum temperature threshold. Once cured, OmniGrip CST performs reliably in all weather conditions.
Can CST be used for decorative or pedestrian-only areas?
For lower-risk areas or decorative outcomes, we recommend OmniGrip Resurface, which offers similar benefits in a wider colour palette and finish options.
